Downsized and out in Bristol and Somerset
I've just looked more closely at cool-cakes.co.uk and they really are very cool cakes. It's my 30th birthday in February, can I have the Harry Potter cake with the individual edible sorting hats?

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess who lived in London and had a well-paid job in journalism. She loved to smoke cigarettes, eat cake and drink white wine. She had a lovely cat, a handsome prince, lots of nice friends and some great handbags. You can read all about that here.
But despite being gorgeous, talented and rich, the princess wasn't happy. She and the prince dreamed of a better life, with less commuting and more time to do yoga. So, one day in April 2004, they packed in their jobs and decided to go and live in a small house with a big vegetable patch in the West Country.
The princess is now living alone* in Bristol in a small flat with a vegetable patch. Still got the cat; still got the handbags; still trying to quit smoking.
*That must be what they call 'downsizing'.

It's the 24th. There's no need to remember it, though, because I make a point of reminding everyone I meet about my birthday from at least a month beforehand, usually from about Boxing Day.
I have always thought of Feb as being a really good month, largely because any month in which people are obliged to give me presents for no reason other than I've managed not to succumb to any fatal illnesses or be knocked down by a car/stabbed/overdose on drugs/etc for 365 days has got to be A1 top-notch brilliant. However I can see how it could be if you didn't have that.
March I think is the most depressing month, because we're all conditioned to believe that it's the beginning of spring but it so isn't. Every year I geta sinking feeling as I realise that actually there aren't going to be gambolling baby bunnies, clear blue skies and daffodils but just another four weeks of shitty rain before spring really comes in April.
